TPO Roofing By The Industry’s Best Commercial Roofers

Single-ply membrane roofs are a top choice for commercial buildings, especially those with low-slope roofs. Within the world of single-ply roofing materials, thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) is one the most popular options, both because of its effectiveness and durability.
TPO roofing can protect your property and help reduce energy costs, but it needs to be installed by professionals if you want to do the job it was intended to do.
At Chicagoland Group, we have been installing TPO roofing on both commercial and residential buildings for more than a decade. When you’re ready to install it on your building, get in touch with the best roofers in Illinois.

What Is TPO Roofing?

TPO is a roofing membrane system specifically designed for low-slope roofs and commercial buildings. It is similar to thermoset membranes such as EPDM but is white and designed for slightly different applications.
Damage to flat roofs is different from those standard roofs.

The Benefits Of TPO Roofing

In addition to being fully waterproof and highly reflective, which helps reduce the impact of sunshine and reduce air conditioning costs, TPO roofing is also very weldable.

It can be molded and shaped to fit intricate roof patterns and still be sufficiently sealed to prevent water from seeping under the membrane and causing issues ranging from mold and mildew to structural roof damage.

How Is TPO Roofing Installed?

The actual membrane comes in sheets that are rolled out onto the roof. But before you can install TPO roofing, you must follow a specific process.

Here are the steps involved in installing a TPO roof:

Removal of the Old Roof — The first step to installing a TPO roof is to strip away the old roof. Our team at Chicagoland Group will not only remove your roof but also dispose of it for you. This way the job is completely removed when the new roof is installed.

Add an Insulation Layer — Before applying the membrane, you must first put down insulation. Options include polyisocyanurate, expanded polystyrene, and extruded polystyrene. The main differences between these different materials can be found in the insulation process as well as cost. Polyisocyanurate is neither the cheapest nor the most expensive, but it is a popular choice because of its durability.
Apply the Roof Membrane — Once the insulation is down, it’s time to lay out the roof membrane. This can be done in one of three ways: 1) Chemical adherence, which is the longest lasting application; 2) Ballasting, which involves using stones or concrete to keep the membrane flat; and 3) Mechanical fastening , i.e. screwing the membrane down to secure joints, ideal for roofs subjected to high winds.
Seal the Seams with Hot Air — Using a hot air gun, the membrane is welded to the underlying insulation and the roof is done. With other flat roofing materials, such as asphalt, this part involves the use of dangerous blow torches. With TPO roofing, sealing is easier, much safer, and produces the same effect.

Your building can benefit from higher HVAC efficiency and protection from those damaging leaks with a flat roof. In addition to that, our company can provide damage restoration from hail or wind after a storm with a new installation. Any type of roof bears the brunt of severe weather, especially in the Midwest. After we have inspected your roof, we will make sure your replacement or new installation is completed to your complete satisfaction.

If you are looking for a roofing company that can handle a high-quality flat roof replacement or installation, make sure to reach out to Chicagoland Group. We have plenty of options to provide you with an outstanding installation for your residential or commercial building.
